Elon Musk has revealed that xAI will launch its large language model (LLM), Grok 3, on Monday at 8:30 PM Pacific Time. The billionaire also pledged that Grok 3 will be the most advanced AI in the world.
Confirming the launch of Grok 3 on X (formerly Twitter), Musk shared, “Grok 3 release with live demo on Monday night at 8pm PT. Smartest AI on Earth.”
He also mentioned, “Will be honing product with the team all weekend, so offline until then.”
Earlier this week, while speaking at the Dubai World Government Summit, Musk described Grok 3 as “scary smart” and highly efficient in its training.
During his virtual address at the summit, Musk said, “Grok 3 has very powerful reasoning capabilities. In the tests we’ve done so far, Grok 3 is outperforming anything we’ve seen released. That’s a great sign. In fact, at times, I think Grok 3 is kind of scary smart. You look at it and think, ‘Wow, this thing is smart.’ It comes up with solutions you wouldn’t even anticipate.”
“Musk added, ‘Grok 3 was trained using the highest amount of compute, and I believe it was done very efficiently. It was trained on a vast amount of synthetic data, and then it cycles through that data, aiming to achieve logical consistency. If it encounters incorrect data, it will reflect on it and remove anything that doesn’t align with reality. Its core reasoning capabilities are very strong.’”
Musk plans to purchase OpenAI’s non-profit arm.
Meanwhile, Musk made a $97.4 billion bid for OpenAI’s non-profit arm earlier this week. Although OpenAI’s board officially rejected the offer, the rivalry between the creators of ChatGPT and xAI has grown even more intense.
“OpenAI was supposed to be open source and non-profit, but now they’ve rebranded to focus on maximum profit with closed AI,” Musk recently commented.
Additionally, with the emergence of Chinese AI startup DeepSeek offering cost-effective AI models, competition has intensified for Western AI companies.
