Elon Musk’s xAI has touted its Grok 3 version as the “world’s smartest AI,” now available for free “until our servers melt.” The official X (formerly Twitter) account also mentioned that X Premium and SuperGrok users will enjoy “increased access.”
In a post on the Musk-owned platform, xAI stated: “This is it: The world’s smartest AI, Grok 3, now available for free (until our servers melt). Try Grok 3 now: https://x.com/i/grok. X Premium+ and SuperGrok users will have increased access to Grok 3, as well as early access to advanced features like Voice Mode” (sic).
xAI Claims Grok 3 is the “Most Powerful Ever”
In a series of posts, xAI asserted that Grok 3 is “the most powerful model ever,” highlighting its exceptional performance in reasoning, math, coding, world knowledge, and instruction-following tasks, along with impressive results across various benchmarks.
According to the Grok 3 blog post, the model demonstrates “leading performance across both academic benchmarks and real-world user preferences,” having achieved an Elo score of 1402 in the Chatbot Arena.
Two New Features Unveiled: DeepSearch and Think
xAI also announced that Grok 3 introduces two new features: DeepSearch and Think. The company explained that DeepSearch is a “powerful agent capable of quickly synthesizing key information, reasoning through conflicting facts and opinions, and providing clarity from complexity.”
Meanwhile, Think can be enabled to leverage Grok’s reasoning model, making it ideal for math, science, and coding. The feature also allows users to ask Grok to “Think harder” about questions that require extra brain power.
Overview of Grok 3’s DeepSearch and Think Features
The blog post detailed DeepSearch’s capabilities, explaining that it is “designed to synthesize key information, reason through conflicting facts and opinions, and bring clarity to complexity… Its final summary provides a concise and comprehensive report, helping you stay on top of a world that never slows down.”
The blog also noted that Grok 3’s Think feature was trained using “reinforcement learning” (RL) at an “unprecedented scale.”
Regarding its capabilities, the blog post highlighted that Think has “learned to refine its problem-solving strategies, correct mistakes through backtracking, simplify steps, and apply the knowledge gained during pretraining. Much like a human tackling a complex problem, it can spend anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes reasoning, often considering multiple approaches, verifying its own solution, and evaluating how to precisely address the problem’s requirements.”
How to Access Grok 3?
Elon Musk’s xAI offers Grok 3 to users through its iOS app (here) and its dedicated website (here). Additionally, Grok is accessible on X, with X Premium users having access to its full range of Grok 3 capabilities.
According to the xAI statement, the API release is coming soon. It stated: “Developers: Grok 3, including both the standard and reasoning models, as well as DeepSearch, will soon be available via our API. Grok 3 is just the beginning. Join us in building the future.”
