Content creators who have heavily invested in the Blackmagic ecosystem now have a high-resolution option for large-format filmmaking.
The new Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K Cinema Camera features a fully customizable body that is compatible with existing accessories in your kit.

“When we launched URSA Cine 12K many people said they would like to purchase the body of the camera only because they already have accessories for feature film production,” said Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO.
“We didn’t do this model as an upgrade because people don’t like giving up their old cameras to trade in, so we just offered the body at a good affordable price so they can get the quality and performance benefits of the URSA Cine platform.”
Tailored for both rental houses and camera operators, the full-frame, large-format RGBW 12K sensor utilizes a multi-scale design with symmetrical color filters for in-sensor scaling.
It provides up to 16 stops of dynamic range and shares the large photo sites found in other URSA Cinema cameras.

This design allows camera operators to select either 12K, 8K, or 4K Blackmagic RAW resolutions while still harnessing the entire sensor to maintain image sharpness and color fidelity.
This means the project dictates the resolution, not the other way around.
Shooting at the maximum 12K resolution enables camera operators to benefit from color supersampling for detailed images, with the option to crop in for enhanced depth of field.
The sensor employs Blackmagic’s 5th generation color science with a new film curve, optimized for color grading in DaVinci Resolve.

Users can capture video in various aspect ratios, including 1.3, 1.5, 1.6, 1.66, 1.8, and 2x de-squeeze for anamorphic cinema.
Additionally, shooters can capture 9K video using a Super35 crop with 4-perf, 3-perf, and 2-perf modes, ensuring full compatibility with classic cinema lenses.

The URSA Cine 12K LF camera comes without extras such as shoulder mounts, handles, additional lens mounts, battery plates, power supplies, and even the 8TB media modules that were previously included.
It is a bare-bones camera, allowing content creators to incorporate any tools and accessories they already own or to purchase the necessary accessories for their projects.
The camera comes standard with a locking EF mount. Other features include built-in OLPF filters to reduce moire and aliasing, standard LEMO and Fischer connections, a dual CF Express media module, high-speed Wi-Fi for camera-to-cloud and live streaming via RMTP and SRT, 10G Ethernet connections, and support for the optional 8TB Blackmagic media module.
As with every Blackmagic cinema camera, a full DaVinci Resolve Studio license is included for post-production.
