Apple Vision ‘Air’ will use titanium to weigh less and come in black, per leak

Leaks on the successor to Vision Pro continue emerging, with the latest offering key details on Apple’s plans for a lighter weight, fresh new visionOS device that could be called the Apple Vision Air.

Apple Vision Air could bring big visual changes

Today leaker Kosutami posted the following on X:

Our next friend in the Vision lineup is so thin, features titanium to reduce weight, including the connectors and the battery, and all comes with iPhone 5-era black- which looks like graphite dark blue. And be noted: this might not called as —Pro but you can Air it out.

There are several key details worth noting here:

  • Kosutami mentions the device being “thin,” which could point to an interesting hardware revamp
  • Titanium will be employed not just for the headset but also connectors and battery
  • Graphite black/blue color
  • and finally the ‘Air’ naming hint

In a follow-up post, there’s clarification that the Vision Air will still use aluminum on much of the outside in a “midnight black like surface,” but titanium will especially help out with internal components for weight reduction.

Separately, Kosutami also offered a glimpse at the new connector for the Vision Air product, which is thicker than a standard Lightning port.

These leaks follow Mark Gurman’s report over the weekend about Apple developing two new Vision headsets, one that’s focused on being lighter and cheaper, while the other plugs into a Mac.

9to5Mac’s Take

I’m excited to see Apple continue investing heavily into making the Vision line a success, and these leaks about a potential Apple Vision Air are especially intriguing.

If Apple can make a visionOS headset that’s significantly lighter, thinner, and cheaper, and offer it in a killer shade of black? That sounds like a compelling next-gen product. Here’s hoping the company can get it on the market in the coming year or so.
