Elon Musk has confirmed that X’s AI model, Grok 2, will soon be replaced by Grok 3. In a post on the platform, Musk wrote, “Btw, Grok 2 is still being used to explain 𝕏 posts. That will update to Grok 3 in a day or two.”
This update comes amid ongoing comparisons of AI models across different platforms, with many users running their own tests. Musk reshared a post from X user @simp 4 satoshi, who shared their analysis of various AI models. The user claimed that Grok 3 outperformed its competitors, including R1, O1 Pro, and Sonnet 3.5.

“Final verdict: Grok 3 > R1 > O1 Pro > Sonnet 3.5. After testing all day, Grok and R1 can handle in-context shape rotations with high-dimensional tensors, while O1 and Sonnet require for loops. XAI and DeepSeek have definitely figured something out!” the post said.
Musk’s announcement hints that Grok 3 will improve the AI’s ability to interpret and explain posts on the platform. Through his company, xAI, Musk has been advancing artificial intelligence, positioning Grok as a strong competitor to models developed by OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and others.
To recap, xAI introduced its latest Grok 3 series of AI models during a live-stream event on Tuesday. The new Grok 3 model offers 10 times the computing power of its predecessor and is poised to compete with ChatGPT-4 and Gemini 2 Pro.
“Grok 3 is in a league of its own across the board. Even the smaller version, Grok 3-Mini, is pushing the limits compared to other competitors,” the xAI team remarked during the launch.
Along with the pre-trained model, xAI launched two reasoning models: the Grok 3 Reasoning Model (Beta) and the Grok 3 Mini Reasoning Model. Unlike pre-trained models, reasoning models are built to mimic human-like thinking. Though they take a bit longer to generate responses, they excel at handling complex queries with enhanced depth and accuracy.
