Atomos Shogun AV-19 Redefines Rackmount Monitoring with 8K Recording, Live Switching, and NDI Workflows

Last Updated on March 18, 2026 by admin

Atomos continues to expand its footprint beyond on camera monitors with the introduction of the Shogun AV-19, a rack-mountable 19-inch 4K HDR monitor-recorder-switcher engineered for modern live production, broadcast, and video village environments.

Built as a true “Monitor-Record-Switch” solution, the Shogun AV-19 consolidates multi camera monitoring, ISO recording, live switching, and advanced networked workflows into a rugged 7 RU chassis designed for both fixed installations and outside broadcast deployments.

At the center of the system is a large, color-accurate 19-inch 3840 x 2160 touchscreen display supporting HDR monitoring with DCI-P3 color coverage and a peak brightness of 1200 cd/m².

This makes the Shogun AV-19 well suited for directors, technical directors, and camera operators who require reliable, confidence level monitoring when managing complex multi camera productions.

The screen supports quad view monitoring or full screen display, enabling real time oversight of up to four isolated camera feeds alongside a fifth program output.

Designed for serious live workflows, the Shogun AV-19 can simultaneously record up to four individual SDI camera feeds as ISOs while also capturing a switched program output.

Recording is supported from both SDI and HDMI sources in Apple ProRes, ProRes RAW, and Avid DNx codecs, delivering up to 10-bit 4:2:2 image quality with resolutions reaching as high as 8Kp60, depending on the input signal and codec selection.

This allows productions to maintain maximum image fidelity while enabling fast turnaround for post production, highlights, and immediate delivery.

Media flexibility is a key strength of the AV-19. Recordings can be captured internally to CFexpress cards or externally to high speed USB-C connected storage, providing scalable options for high data rate workflows, long form events, and redundancy focused setups.

In mission critical environments, the Shogun AV-19 can also function as a secure backup recorder, an instant review station for directors and clients, and a dedicated confidence monitor.

Connectivity is clearly aimed at broadcast and professional live production.

The unit features 2 x 12G-SDI inputs, 2 x 3G-SDI inputs, a 12G-SDI output, and HDMI input and output, allowing seamless integration with cinema cameras, broadcast cameras, and hybrid mirrorless systems.

Support for LANC control enables camera triggering and transport control directly from the unit, simplifying multi camera operation.

Networked production is further enhanced with full NDI|HX3 send and receive over standard Gigabit Ethernet.

This allows high quality video, audio, and metadata to be transmitted over a single Ethernet cable, opening the door to remote production, distributed control rooms, and IP based workflows without additional hardware converters.

On the audio side, the Shogun AV-19 includes two full size XLR inputs with 48V phantom power, supporting professional microphones and balanced audio sources.

Dedicated audio meters, gain controls, and frame accurate audio delay ensure precise synchronization and monitoring during live capture. Built in speakers provide quick reference monitoring without requiring external audio hardware.

Atomos has also packed the AV-19 with its full suite of professional monitoring tools.

These include EL Zone false color, focus peaking, waveform monitoring, Log-to-LUT viewing, custom 3D LUT support, frame guides, safe areas, anamorphic de-squeeze, HDR-to-Rec.709 conversion, and quad view monitoring.

User-definable function buttons on the front panel allow instant access to critical tools, an important feature for fast paced broadcast and live event environments.

Housed in a rugged 19 inch rackmount chassis and designed to be easily flight cased or installed into broadcast racks, the Shogun AV-19 is positioned as the centerpiece of modern studio, live event, and outside broadcast systems.

By combining large format HDR monitoring, multi channel ISO recording, live switching, and IP based workflows into a single device, Atomos is clearly targeting professionals who demand flexibility, reliability, and efficiency from their production infrastructure.

Shogun AV-19 is available for preorder now and is expected to begin shipping at the end of March 2026. Pricing is set at USD $2,099, excluding local sales taxes.
