The AI assistant Gemini supports the integration of various Google apps, including Calendar, Drive, Docs, Maps, YouTube, and others. The Android version also works with Spotify, OpenStax, WhatsApp, and Photos.
The new version of its app was previewed last month, and 9to5Google spotted it is finally hitting devices. It adds two new components: the first allows it to look through backed-up images and photos to search for faces, locations, and dates, and it also offers response-specific prompts, such as “show recent selfies” or “find photos of landscapes.”

The second component is more data-hungry, asking questions such as “where did I eat vegan food in Lisbon?” and “what is the driver’s license of the Ferrari I saw in Bergamo?” Tapping a result opens the Photos app, and there is a “Show more” button for more details.
Google Photos integration in Gemini
Google Photos can be enabled through the Android app of Gemini. In the top-right corner, in the Profile Menu, there is Apps; scroll to Media, and enable Google Photos. It should be next to Spotify and YouTube, but the app is rolling out gradually—it is currently available only in the US.
