Insider explains why iPhone 15 will be the biggest update since 5G was added three years ago

Renowned Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has unveiled a plethora of anticipated enhancements for this year’s iPhone 15 lineup in his latest edition of the Power On newsletter. While many of these rumors have been circulating for some time, Gurman’s reaffirmation of them has significantly bolstered their credibility.

The entire series will come standard with the cutting-edge features of Dynamic Island and a USB-C port.

Utilizing the revolutionary low-injection pressure over-molding (LIPO) technology, the bezels on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will undergo a remarkable transformation, shrinking from approximately 2.2 millimeters to a mere 1.5 millimeters. This same technique was successfully employed in the creation of the Apple Watch Series 7 and Series 8, resulting in thinner borders and increased screen real estate.

The integration of these slimmer bezels propels this new iteration one step closer to achieving Apple’s ultimate vision of an all-screen phone.

In accordance with previous reports, the Pro models will bid farewell to their stainless-steel edges and embrace the superiority of titanium. This exceptional material not only boasts a lighter and stronger composition but also resists the unsightly smudges of fingerprints. While the devices will retain their frosted glass back, the edges connecting the sides and front will be noticeably less sharp than their predecessors.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are expected to harness the power of a new, faster, and more energy-efficient chip built upon the advanced 3nm process. Internally, these phones will maintain the same design as the iPhone 14, ensuring ease of reparability.

Gurman also tantalizes us with the promise of significant upgrades to the rear camera, including enhanced lenses and an expanded range of optical zoom for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Prior reports have suggested that the largest model will even feature a telephoto periscope lens.

As for the regular models, they will be fueled by the formidable A16 chip of the iPhone 14 Pro, promising substantial improvements in camera performance. Although speculation points to a 48MP camera for these models, it remains uncertain if it will be identical to the one found in the iPhone 15 Pro.
